Since it’s beginning in 1982, Arizona
Senior Olympics has had a unique partnership with various agencies
of State and City government. Although the program was instigated
by City
of Phoenix staff, the cities of Mesa,
Scottsdale
and Tempe
were soon to follow as partners in offering this program to
the people of the valley and Arizona. These were joined shortly
after by City
of Glendale, The
City of Peoria and more recently by the City
of Surprise.
Each of these cities contributes
the efforts of their staff as well as logistical support for
events done in their area. When there is a particular need they
frequently step forward with special help. They are true partners
in bringing this important program of health and fitness to
the people of their own and other cities.
In a time when much is said about
lack of cooperation between government agencies, Arizona Senior
Olympics is an example of what can be accomplished through intergovernmental
cooperation. We are proud of the Parks and Recreation and Human
Services Departments who work together to bring you Arizona
Senior Olympics:
The
City of Phoenix
The
City of Mesa
The
City of Scottsdale
The
City of Tempe
The
City of Glendale
The
City of Peoria
The
City of Surprise
and
the communities of
Sun City and Sun City West
